The Helena Lions Club Foundation has been organized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code which provides tax benefits on charitable gifts to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. This Foundation provides an opportune means for members and businesses in our community to assist the Lions Club in raising additional funds for our many charitable causes.
The Helena Lions Club supports a number of programs to address critical services and individual needs in our community, including preserving sight and hearing, combating disabilities, promoting health, serving the youth of our community and many others. Efforts of our Club helps people lead to healthier and productive lives. The Mission of the Helena Lions Club Foundation is to support the efforts of the Lions Club in serving our local community in carrying out its many essential humanitarian projects. The formation of our Helena Lions Club Foundation provides an opportunity for businesses and individuals alike in the community to make tax deductible gifts which will go directly to benefit their community and to assist those less fortunate than us.
There are a number of ways an individual, a business or other entities can contribute to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for causes that have been important to them during their lifetime. Some of the more common include:
(1) Outright gifts of cash or cash equivalents (2) Publicly Traded Securities. Gifting of appreciated stock is a popular means of gifting with benefits of reducing capital gains taxes. (3) Real Property and Real Estate can be gifted at its fair market value. (4) Tangible Personal Property, gifted also at fair market value. (5) Planned Gifts. During Estate Planning, many individuals consider charitable donations to causes that have influenced their lives. Including charitable giving in their estate planning allows one to leave a lasting legacy of generosity to those organizations or causes close to them. Estate planning can include: • Memorial Gifts • Charitable Bequests • Charitable Trusts • Gifts of Life Insurance • Charitable Grants
